The CFL has flirted with the Maritimes before the most recent 2018 conditional franchise named the Atlantic Schooners. The original incarnation of the Schooners was another conditional franchise that was supposed to start play in 1984. However the franchise was withdrawn after the ownership group was unable to secure funding for a stadium. Before withdrawal, the Schooners did unveil a logo in blue, silver, and metallic gold. The mark featured a schooner and waves inside a skewed block A all enclosed in a circle with the team name.
My Schooners redesign refocuses the color scheme to teal, aquatic silver, charcoal grey, and old gold. The primary icon shows a schooner sailing along the waves while a silhouette of the ship is used as a partial mark. The secondary displays a lighthouse with a football shining as a beacon for fans to connect with. The patch places the ship mark against a decagon, signifying Atlantic as the 10th CFL franchise, and the font is a rounded slab serif with small nodes on the vertical strokes. The primary and secondary helmets both use the primary icon on the sides, with the primary in aquatic silver and the secondary in charcoal. The classic helmet uses the logo from the 1980s conditional franchise on a silver shell. The teal home, white away, and charcoal alternate uniforms all features contrasting sleeve and collar trim as well as 10 thin stripes across the torso as a nod to the team’s status as the 10th CFL franchise. The classic uniforms ask “What if?” the Schooners did begin play in 1984 with a black, silver, and gold scheme and classic striping on the helmet, sleeves, and pants.
