Cleveland Browns

Outside of a three season hiatus in the late 1990s, Cleveland Browns football has been played along the shore of Lake Erie for more than 70 years. The original Cleveland Browns began their storied history in 1946, amassing eight championships before the advent of the Super Bowl. The Browns would not don their famous orange helmets until 1950, opting for white lids during their first four seasons. The orange headgear would take on permanent status in 1952, after the team switched back and forth between their options for two seasons. The 1950s saw the Brownies tinker with orange jerseys, a single white helmet stripe, and helmet numerals until the base of the classic Browns look took hold in 1961. In 1968, the sleeve stripes would become slightly separated on the home jerseys with the road jerseys following suit the next year. Orange pants were introduced in 1975 in an effort to capitalize on the popularity of color TV and would last through the 1983 season. In 1984, the team attempted to edit their jerseys, but returned to their signature five stripes a season later. The 1990s saw some further tinkering with the striping before they packed up for Baltimore Maryland following the 1995 season. Reborn in 1999, the team mostly stuck to what had worked in the past until 2015, when Nike radically redesigned the Browns’ on-field brand. With the rebrand falling historically flat, the Browns will enter the 2020 season with another new uniform. My Browns redesign takes a fresh look at the B-Football logo the team sported from 2003 to 2014. The new B-Football is placed over the team name in a stout block font to create the team signature. A modernized Brownie the Elf constitutes the alternate logo, while a CB coaches cap monogram and the throwback helmet logo round out the logo offerings. The helmet keeps its signature harvest orange hue, with a revised striping pattern featuring a thinner middle stripe. A logo is added to the helmet, but not on the sides. A small B-Football logo appears atop the stripe on the front of the helmet above a warm grey facemask. The home jerseys sport a small CLEVELAND just below the collar in orange, with white numbers and orange and white striping on the sleeves. Those same home brown jerseys pair with orange or brown pants. The away white jerseys feature brown type and pair with orange or white pants. The alternate jerseys are orange with white type and pair with white or brown pants, while the throwbacks bring back the old brighter orange, the standard block font, and white pants to pair with the classic brown jersey.
