Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavaliers used the league-wide switchover to Nike to make significant changes to their uniforms, adding black to an already dark color palette of burgundy, athletic gold, and navy. My concept lightens the color scheme and refocuses it on burgundy and athletic gold, in addition to adding complements of red and old gold. The primary logo shows off a new golden beveled CAVALIERS script underlined by a subtle sword. It is flanked on the top and bottom by a cavalier hat and a basketball. The hat also appears on an abbreviated logo atop a CAVS wordmark, as well as in a standalone capacity. The secondary logo uses a pair of crossed swords against a beveled basketball with a subtle red C behind it. A C-Shield completes the logo set. The typeface is a slightly beveled serif with a uniform stroke weight. It it rendered in red and burgundy on light backgrounds, and athletic gold and old gold on dark backgrounds. The Icon and Association uniforms feature segmented burgundy and red trim with yellow on both sides, calling back to LeBron’s first stint in Cleveland. The CAVALIERS script appears on the Association uniform while the Icon edition features CLEVELAND across the chest. The C-Shield also makes an appearance just below the neckline, while the secondary logo appears on the shorts. The alternate uniform also features many of the hallmarks of the first two uniforms, but with old gold encasing the segmented trim and the CAVS script on the jerseys. The Pride uniforms are black to recall that fateful night in Oakland when the Cavaliers completed their comeback from a 3-1 NBA Finals deficit to vanquish the Warriors and bring a title to Cleveland for the first time in 52 years. The court features the city’s skyline along with the Cavaliers motto: ALL FOR ONE. ONE FOR ALL. The primary logo is placed at center court, while segmented striping is applied throughout the court for a fresh, never-done-before look.
