The Columbus Blue Jackets take their name from the brave Union Army soldiers who protected our country in the Civil War. To that end I developed a honeycomb symbol that displays a star and four chevrons encapsulated in a C. It is complemented by two oval badges and a “blue jacket” bee with crossed hockey stick legs. The typeface is derived from the broadsides of the time. The home uniform is navy on top and union blue on the breezers, mimicking a general’s uniform on the battlefield. The away sweater is a cream-colored complement, while the alternate is union blue and paired with navy breezers.
