Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders franchise began alongside the other charter members of the AFL in 1960. The team’s first home was Oakland, California with a color scheme of black and gold. During the 1963 season, the Silver-and-Black would first don their titular colors. While the home uniform has largely stayed the same since then, the Raiders experimented with silver numbers featuring a thick black outlines in both 1964 and 1970. In fact, the Black Hole has changed locations more than uniforms. The Raiders would move to Los Angeles before moving back to Oakland for the 1995 season. The team will move once again for the 2020 season, this time to Las Vegas, Nevada. My Las Vegas Raiders redesign maintains much of what makes the Raiders franchise historic, albeit with a few modifications to tailor the team’s look to their new home. The new primary logo updates the familiar leatherhead mascot with a skulled version wearing a midcentury helmet. The swords are repositioned into a V shape with the tips doubling as the stem of the new spade holding shape. The primary icon is combined with an updated wordmark to create the team signature, while the mascot stands alone as the alternate logo. A stylized LV is used on the coaches’ caps, and the classic shield is retained for the throwbacks. The new typeface combines the style of the original with a worn effect synonymous with tattered pirate flags. The helmets feature the updated logo on a silver shell with black facemasks and a tattered stripe down the center. The home jerseys retain the solid black look with thin charcoal trim along the collar and sleeves, the new number font, and a small wordmark under the front collar. The home jerseys pair with either silver or black pants featuring a single tattered stripe down each leg. The away uniforms feature a darker profile than previous generations with black on the sleeves and collar and also pair with silver or black pants. With the black home uniforms being so iconic, the alternate jerseys are a second road set of white jerseys, but with silver numbers outlined in black and silver sleeve and collar trim. The alternate jerseys are worn with either silver or white pants. The throwback uniforms are the classic black and silver threads with block numbers and the shield logo on the helmets.
