Milwaukee Brewers

After spending 1969 in Seattle as the Pilots, the team made the move to Milwaukee and became the Brewers. Their first identity centered around Barrelman, a cartoon wooden barrel come-to-life playing baseball. In 1978 the Ball-in-Glove logo was born, which defined an era and lasted until 1994, when The Crew switched things up to a navy/forest/metallic gold scheme with an MB mark referred to as the “Motre Bame” logo. In 2000, the Brewers updated their brand to the current scheme, a Brewers script against a baseball in navy and metallic gold. My redesign of the Brewers returns the team to a new era of Barrelman. The primary mark is a roundel composed of Barrelman eyeing the pitcher against a cream-colored baseball, with MILWAUKEE BREWERS and two pieces of covered barley. The cap logo features an M cohesively integrated into a barrel. A barrel with the team script, a script-B, and a tweaked version of the Ball-in-Glove round out the logo set. The Brewers script features a stylized B consistent with the city’s brewing history and a tail off the S that extends below most of the word, while the MILWAUKEE wordmark balances rounded corners and squared letterforms for a mid-century appeal. The numbers take on similar characteristics to the MILWAUKEE wordmark, blending timeless elements with modern sensibilities. The home uniforms are cream to represent Cream City, with the Brewers script in royal with an athletic gold border. The barrel-M appears on the all royal cap and the socks complete the concept with barrel striping. The aways reference the AL Champion 1982 team with a powder blue base and MILWAUKEE wordmark. The away caps add a splash of athletic gold with the front panels rendered in the cheese wedge hue. The throwback uniforms put a modern twist on the beloved pinstriped uniforms, with the Brewers script on the chest, faux-stirrup socks, and the Ball-in-Glove logo on the caps. The home alternate uniform features an athletic gold jersey with the barrel-M on the chest and the gold-front cap, while the royal blue MILWAUKEE alternate can be worn at home or on the road. The team’s batting practice and spring training uniform features a cap with the script-B and a jerseys with the Ball-in-Glove logo on the chest and contrasting sleeves.
