The New York Football Giants, as the team is legally known, have called Gotham home since 1925. As a young team in the burgeoning NFL, sometimes the team known as Big Blue wore royal blue jerseys while other times opting for red. It wasn’t until the 1950s that the G-Men would fully embrace blue as their dominant color. The Giants first official logo appeared in 1945 consisting of a red jerseyed and blue helmeted player ready to throw the ball. The arm-cocked-quarterback would be used, albeit with some revisions, until 1961. That year, the team would unveil their classic lowercase-ny logo. The mark would be revised to feature an inline font and a capital N in 1975 but was scrapped the next season in favor of the ubiquitous GIANTS underlined script. The team would return to the lowercase-ny in 2000 and has maintained that look since. Uniform-wise, the Giants have maintained a blue jersey and helmet with grey or white pants since the 1950s, although the striping has changed over the years. My rebrand gives the G-Men a giant, King Kong-inspired mascot placed within a football complemented by a Manhattan skyline. The team signature places the Gorilla-Football mark above NEW YORK GIANTS in a modern typeface that maintains the rounded forms of the lowercase-ny. The Gorilla-Football is also used on its own on the helmets. The alternate logo honors NYC with NYG placed above the skyline and EST. 1925 stating the team’s history. The NYG in the alternate is also used for the coaches caps, while the GIANTS underlined script is used for the throwbacks. The home uniforms consist of royal blue jerseys with a single red stripe on the sleeves that matches the helmet, which is royal with a grey facemask. The home jersey, which shows off the alternate logo on the left chest, can be paired with grey pants with a blue-red-blue stripe or white pants with a single red stripe. The away uniforms bring blue back into the scheme with royal numbers and names, along with the familiar single red stripe on the sleeves. The away jersey has options for grey or royal pants. The red jerseys return as the alternates for the first time since 2007. The red alternates can be paired with the grey or blue pants. The throwback-inspired uniforms keep most of the hallmarks of the 1980s-era Giants including navy helmets and royal jerseys, but with the modernized typeface used for player numbers.
