Vince Carter was a human highlight reel dating back to his college days in Chapel Hill. Drafted by the Toronto Raptors in 1998, he immediately made an impact winning Rookie of the Year for the ’98/’99 season. Over the next few seasons, he would win the Slam Dunk Contest in 2000, win a gold medal representing Team USA in the 2000 Olympics, and earn the nicknames “Air Canada” and “Vinsanity.” Carter would be traded to New Jersey in 2004 where he would help guide the Nets to three consecutive playoff appearances. Vince Carter would also play for the Magic, Suns, Mavericks, Grizzlies, Kings, and Hawks, evolving his game as he aged to focus on three-point shooting and defense. This illustration shows Vince in his rookie season, wearing the original Raptors uniforms and flying high in the middle of another spectacular dunk. “Air Canada” appears at the bottom in a boarding pass-style holding shape, while a chevron placed behind Vince represents both the Raptors and Carter’s gravity-defying dunks.
