Rollie Fingers

Few athletes embodied an era the way Rollie Fingers did. Between the saves, the uniforms he wore, and his iconic handlebar mustache, Mr. Fingers is what many people picture when they think of baseball in the 1970s and ’80s, especially in Milwaukee, Oakland, and San Diego. These retro-inspired poster designs start with a vector illustration of the pitcher in the uniform of each of the three teams he played for. The detail scales from digital media all the way to mural size with no loss in quality. The Milwaukee-inspired poster takes The People’s Flag of Milwaukee and places a silhouette of #34 in action over the rising sun. The Oakland version uses a stylized oak tree as a symbol of civic pride, while the San Diego-inspired design opts for a cluster of summery palm trees.
